We are looking for a problem solver who has the ability to juggle multiple priorities to join our Digital team as a TV NOC Technician. This role is based in our TV Headend in Naxxar and given that it is highly operational, it requires adequate commitment to ensure 24x7 operations.

Your role will involve monitoring the TV systems and troubleshooting any system and service issues that may arise. You will also be handling operational tasks related to the running of TV systems, live sports events, playout systems and video on demand. Success in this position depends on your ability to diagnose and resolve issues using technical abilities, problem solving capabilities, and analytical skills.

We’re not particularly looking for someone with experience however if you are passionate about technology, have a flair for video, and enjoy learning, this opportunity is the one for you!

  • An ICT/Engineering related Diploma or higher

  • In view of constant liaising with international parties, fluent spoken and written English is required. Other languages would be an asset.

  • By possessing CCNA, MCSE, LPI etc., or video and RF related qualifications

  • If you have experience ideally in the area of TV systems or operations and/or in a highly IT oriented environment.

If this describes you, here’s a glimpse of what you will be doing in this position:

  • Monitoring and maintaining TV and video equipment. Carrying out configuration changes, minor deployments and troubleshoot issues on:

    • Receivers/Decoders

    • Encoders/Transcoders

    • Multiplexers

    • Video Routers / Video Processors / Audio Mixers

    • Supporting equipment such as: MIP inserters and GPS receivers, IP routers/switches

    • Satellite dishes and RF equipment

  • Monitoring and operating IT systems in use at the TV Headend, including:

    • Network management systems

    • Conditional Access Systems

    • IPTV Middleware Systems

    • IPTV Streaming & Fast Channel Change Systems

    • Storage Systems

    • Playout / Ingest / CG Systems

    • EPG Parsing and Update Systems

    • Web Streaming Servers

    • Offline Transcoders

    • IP Network infrastructure

  • Ensuring a timely response to all incidents/alarms, cases and outages is provided.

  • Notifying GO’s partners and content providers in case of issues, outages and upcoming maintenance works at the TV Headend.

  • Acting as Playout Supervisor when less than 4 concurrent live feeds are being broadcast on GO’s channels.

  • Performing duties related to Playout centre such as Playlist QCs, video file QCs, synopsis processing and audio mixer configurations.

  • Performing operational tasks such as deployment of patches, testing, backups, and scripts execution with the help of other team members

  • Other day-to-day tasks such as channel scans, EPG processing, cabling and installation work at the TV Datacentre and maintenance on dish farm.
