Job Description

The ICT Unit is responsible for all Information and Communication Technologies related support services to the MFSA’s Units.

Purpose behind the Recruitment

Through this recruitment, the MFSA is looking for applicants with a vast background in infrastructure technologies to increase the current pool of resources.  The eventual appointee will be appointed at a managerial grade III level and will form part of a multidisciplinary team within the ICT Unit.

Qualifications Required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a comparable recognised qualification at NQF level 6 or better duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC)*
  • Certification in at least two of the following areas:
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • HP Accredited Technical Professional (ATP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA)

Eligibility

  • With a required minimum of five (5) years and preferably with eight (8) years proven work experience in most of these areas; Next-Generation Firewalls, Cyber Security, Public Key Infrastructure, Application Delivery Controllers, Remote Access Solutions, IP Telephony, Networking, Routing, Server Operating Systems, e-Mail Servers, LDAP and GPO Management, DNS and DHCP Architecture, Virtualisation Infrastructure, Enterprise Data Storage, Enterprise Server Infrastructure, Backup and Recovery Systems, Data Deduplication and Replication Technology
  • Experience of business critical environment where high availability of technology systems are key to sustain business operation
  • Familiarisation with ISO/IEC 27031 - Guidelines for information and communication technology readiness for business continuity
  • A satisfactory level of analytical and report-writing skills

Duties

  • The selected candidate will report to the Systems Infrastructure Leader and will undertake duties in relation with the implementation and administration of the MFSA’s Systems Infrastructure. The primary job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Systems infrastructure architecture of a critical environment
  • Planning, implementation, configuration and administration of IT systems
  • Working with users to identify business needs
  • Producing relevant architectural documentation in order to map business requirements with technical solutions
  • Writing and maintaining functional specifications and system documentation
  • Writing and evaluation of request for proposals and tenders
  • Problem solving and taking decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Coordinating, coaching and mentoring team members
  • Providing third level support and training to users
  • Proposing improvements to systems and processes
  • Ensure that all systems conform with the required service level
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key vendors and manufacturers
  • Participate in EU related fora
  • Assist in other tasks as directed by the Systems Infrastructure Leader
