Job Description & Summary

As part of the assurance team you will work primarily on accounting change engagements with the insurance sector that is experiencing unprecedented change through the impact of IFRS 17, the new accounting standard for measuring insurance contracts. You will have strong knowledge of mainly non-life insurance accounting and be a good all round team player with a proven track record in building and sustaining client relationships and a ‘can-do’ attitude. This provides an excellent opportunity for strong candidates to broaden their experience and rapidly progress within our firm.

Our clients are often well known brands and many have broad international reach and given local GAAP will all prepare their financial statements in accordance with IFRS (EU). We focus on using the latest technology to support our work,  reduce the level of manual testing ensuring you’ll focus on the most valuable areas of client service and on enhancing corporate governance and the reliability of our clients’ information.

Responsibilities

As a Manager, you’ll work as part of a multi disciplinary team of problem solvers with extensive consulting, assurance and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above

  • Be involved in the financial management of clients

  • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients

  • Contribute to the development of your own and team’s technical acumen

  • Develop strategies to solve complex technical challenges

  • Assist in the management and delivering of interesting projects

  • Train, coach, and supervise staff

  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues

  • Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand

Joining our team as a Manager, we would expect you to have experience of change projects, preferably within a consulting environment. You will have been supporting decision making at a mid-senior level and be able to demonstrate a track record of implementation success, achieving savings and overcoming various challenges. Significant FS sector experience is essential.

Requirements

We require an experienced Manager who has the following technical skills and experience:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with well demonstrated external consulting experience

  • Financial services experience specifically Insurance

  • A delivery track record of leading workstreams within Finance transformation projects,

  • A consulting/professional services track record

  • An understanding of standard Finance systems

  • Experience of leading and developing teams

  • Recognised Degree.

  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior management on alternative solutions and risks with experience of presenting and influencing at a senior level

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Desirable skills & experience

  • Experience of the impact of regulations on finance in FS

  • Candidates would ideally have exposure to one or more of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, Solvency II, Basel III

  • Data architecture, data management, chart of accounts design

  • Systems architecture for finance systems

  • Exposure to Robotics process automation and other disruptive technologies

  • A formal accounting qualification or equivalent understanding of accounting principles.

  • Experience of a Lean approach to process / cost optimisation;

  • Previous experience in a management or a senior role gained from within a finance department
