Job Description

A leading provider in professional security and consultancy services in East Africa is recruiting a Head of Shared Service Centre for their Mauritian based office. The incumbent will be a dynamic and visionary individual responsible to create their own team, support the development of a winning culture and lead through transition. This role reports to the Group CFO and requires a strong customer focus, previous shared services management experience, a good understanding of transactional finance and to be an integral part of a Greenfield implementation.

The role will require occasional travel to East and Central African countries such as Kenya, South Sudan, DRC and Tanzania.

Key deliverables

  • Manage the provision of transactional services including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Period End, Payroll, HR Portal Administration, Application Support
  • Exercise Internal & external audit support
  • Manage the resourcing and training of the team and ensure the key business requirements are met
  • Design and report against an SLA framework agreed with key stakeholders
  • Enhance the range of services provided to the business and ensure regular process improvement reviews are carried out to prove the efficiency of the service
  • Integrate each business unit in line with a detailed implementation plan
  • Manage the service in line with agreed budget/forecast submissions and ensure committed cost savings are delivered
  • Maintain the control framework of the services provided
  • Management of ad hoc projects as may be deemed necessary by the business leadership
  • Develop and drive the implementation plan
  • Coordinate all activities identified in the plan to ensure an effective implementation
  • Work with Group HR to ensure the timely recruitment and training of the team

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, ICAEW...)
  • Business relevant degree or Masters
  • Experience of 10y+ in Shared Service Centre plus experience in delivery of Finance, Procurement & HR solutions
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully leading transformation projects in a developing, complex environment
  • Ability to identify issues early, recommend resolutions to those issues and effectively and efficiently transition to those resolutions
  • Significant experience in back office management roles both project and Behavioural Analysis Unit based
  • The role requires an ability to engage actively in a proactive manner with stakeholders at all levels in the organisation
  • Expert in change management concepts, methodologies
  • Bilingual English/French
