A leading manufacturing company is seeking to employ a Financial Controller, who will be accountable to the General Manager and the Chief Financial Officer. They will be managing the financial team who in turn will report to him/her

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the financial function
  • Produce timely management accounts on a monthly basis
  • Preparation of the annual budget and any periodical forecasting that may be necessary from time to time
  • Costing process through the setting up labor and overhead absorption rates
  • Cash flow management of the factory
  • Implement process changes within the financial function and also influence other departments to improve timeliness of financial information
  • Forms part of the management team responsible for the performance of the Malta factory
  • Participate in management meetings as directed by the relevant General Manager
  • Participate in and contribute to cross-functional teams as requested
  • Advises and assists the General Manager on all aspects of finance for their functions
  • Responsible for providing the Departmental heads and other support functions with financial reports and analysis of their respective areas
  • Expected to work flexible hours in order to meet accountabilities and attend to meetings after office hours

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing and their financial implications
  • Good understanding of costing models used in manufacturing
  • Demonstrable, excellent analytical capabilities with the skill to draw appropriate conclusions and present these to non-experts; able to use financial analysis & presentation tools (e.g. Excel) to an advanced level
  • Demonstrable good independent judgement with the ability to set priorities and make appropriate decisions
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and work with teams of up to 10 people who are not direct reports
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate and work effectively and professionally with people up to Chief Executive level both in person and in writing
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage a Finance function at Head of level, including the ability to set priorities, goals and objectives and to achieve these within budgetary, time and staff constraints
  • A high-quality recognized degree/professional qualification in banking, finance or economics, but preferably in Accountancy is desirable
  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in a management position with equivalent accountabilities and responsibilities including staff management
