Providing assistance to the underwriters in underwriting high net worth commercial legal indemnity risks and building strong relationships with clients, solicitors, brokers and business units in order to secure and develop business. Will be reporting to the General Manager. 

Job Description: 

  • Underwrite and manage own work within authority limits in accordance with agreed guidelines, service, regulatory and technical standards 

  • Refer all cases above normal authority levels, reviewing and summarising files plus making recommendations as necessary 

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and clients 

  • Work with clients to determine their needs and provide solutions 

  • Assist in the development of client relationships through presentations, meetings and corporate events 

  • Understand external/internal clients' needs and work with team to meet these needs 

  • Account management of existing clients 

  • Undertake legal research and other reasonable duties as assigned by line manager 

  • Contribute to ongoing initiatives and projects as required 

  • Continual development of industry / marketplace knowledge 

  • Some travel is required 

Job Requirements: 

  • Law degree/legal professional qualification or a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an insurance or legal based environment 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels 

  • Able to effectively communicate complex issues to clients and colleagues 

  • Other European languages would be advantageous 

  • Commercial awareness 

  • Strong negotiation skills 

  • Ability to focus on specific targets and demonstrate target achievement 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Develops positive relationships with internal and external customers 

  • Capable of producing high quality work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
