Job Description

An award-winning bank and reference point for Corporate and Investment Banking, Private Banking and Global Business Solutions, is looking for an Asset & Liabilities Manager (ALM) who will be responsible to analyze, develop and optimize balance sheet management strategies within the risk management framework and risk appetite set by the Bank's limited Assets and Liabilities Committee (ALCO).

The new recruit will propose, execute and manage balance sheet management strategies as part of this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain systems and procedures to monitor and measure the compliance of banking book risks with the limits and guidelines set in the Bank’s Liquidity Risk policy and the Bank’s Banking Book Interest Rate Risk policy
  • Maintain day-end and month-end data to enable reporting on current and historical compliance or non-compliance with limits and guidelines, with appropriate commentary over daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual reports periods
  • Model and report the outcomes of each measure of Liquidity and Banking Book Interest Rate Risk to ALCO in accordance with the set policies and procedures
  • Give prompt attention to breaches of limits and guideline, with a particular focus on the development of risk mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and submit monthly ALCO reports as well as quarterly Board reports, including comprehensive commentary
  • Set up/Revamp the Bank’s stress testing methodology coupled with an associated Contingency Plan

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related degree
  • Fully qualified accountant with sound analytical mind-set and experience
  • Minimum 7 years banking experience with good communication skills (Verbal & written)
  • In depth knowledge of treasury and financial risk management
  • Awareness of banking book liquidity risk and interest rate risk
  • In depth understanding of financial and capital markets
  • Knowledge of economic fundamentals and banking products and Capital Markets instruments (including derivative instruments)
