The role is to manage an existing delegated authority book of P&C business in continental Europe and the UK. In conjunction with senior management of the department the role also requires to further develop the P&C strategy. This is an exciting role to lead the further development of one of the main target business.

Job duties include:

Build our P&C strategy
Define P&C appetite
Manage delegated authority schemes
Underwrite P&C risks
Deal with underwriting referrals
Auditing of adherence to underwriting guidelines and the performance of the P&C business
Evaluation of data
Monitoring of pricing
Develop P&C performance metrics
Drive the due diligence of the new P&C opportunities
Further grow P&C business in Europe and UK
Be a reference point for training of technical underwriting and product knowledge
Build strong internal and external relationships
Provide mentoring/guidance to a junior P&C Underwriter
To maintain compliance with any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role.

Skills and Qualifications required:

Extensive P&C Underwriting experience, ideally with experience in dealing with multi territories in the P&C space
Experience of portfolio management (or a desire to develop into this area)
Experience of managing projects
Knowledge of reinsurance and its applications
Ability to think and act long term both strategically and operationally
Strong process analysis, problem solving and creative thinking skills
Ability to work with different cultures within a European context
Ability to work remotely and independent
Language: English and ideally one or more of the following languages (German/Italian/Dutch)
Minimum International P&C Underwriting experience of 5-10 years
