The Role

Well-established company in the banking field is looking for a System Administrator / Engineer who will be part of an IT team focusing on managing operational IT Infrastructure, liaising with other members of the IT team and 3rd party suppliers. The System Engineer will drive the organisation’s Systems and Infrastructure to assure system uptime and cater for future expansion based on the Bank’s needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and implement the necessary changes to the organisation’s infrastructure;

  • Maintain and upgrade any physical servers and storage devices required to run the organisations infrastructure;

  • Monitoring of systems and infrastructure, and setup of additional monitoring objects to assure visibility of the organisation’s systems;

  • Setting up mechanisms and systems to assure business continuity;

  • Coordinate and oversee planed failovers of all systems;

  • Assure proper backup mechanisms are in place;

  • Assuring system up-time;

  • Rolling out of virtual servers to cater for additional services as per the organisation’s requirements.

  • Actively involved in Security and Network projects


  • Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in IT or IT certifications ideally specialising on IT infrastructure

  • Have a minimum of 3 years working in the IT field with a minimum of 1-year experience in a similar post

  • Have strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Have a strong command of the English language;

  • A great team-player.

  • Have practical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DFS, IIS and WSUS;

  • Have practical knowledge of Microsoft Server and desktop environments.

  • Have practical knowledge of Microsoft O365 environments;

  • Other non-Windows environments, such as Red Hat Linux and other variants of this OS is a must;

  • Have practical knowledge of Apache HTTPD server;

  • Have good experience with virtualization, mainly focusing on VMWare;

  • Knowledgeable on storage technologies and configurations;

  • Have practical experience with MSSQL and MySQL. Ideally one would know how to setup the environment, handle backups and setup mechanisms to cater for business continuity and disaster recovery;
