About Financial Stability
The Financial Stability function is responsible for identifying and assessing risks which have the potential to spread within the financial sector and the real economy (systemic risks).Through its own macroprudential research and analysis of the financial sector, which covers the banking, insurance and securities sectors, the function contributes to the formulation of policies aimed at mitigating identified risks.
As Senior Manager within Financial Stability you will lead coach and manage a multidisciplinary team involved in the macroprudential analysis of the financial sector. The eventual appointee will have the following job accountabilities:
Review and provide expert technical advice on the identification and surveillance of current and emerging risks developing within the financial system;
Scope and lead quantitative research utilising econometric and financial modelling;
Oversee and contribute to the preparation of technical and analytical reports both for internal and publication purposes;
Prepare and review briefing notes on systemic and/or other associated risks;
Oversee and prepare financial stability contents on MFSA website as well as social media;
Support Head/Deputy Head in the formulation and execution of the function’s work plan;
Assist in the formulation of recommendations on any risk-mitigation or supervisory measures required to address relevant risks;
Act as a line manager providing Analysts with coaching, feedback and advice on career development;
Attend and contribute in technical meetings within the MFSA as well as at national and European level and
Undertake other tasks/duties as developed by line management.
We are looking for candidates with strong knowledge and understanding of the financial sector. You will be expected to be flexible and dynamic and add value to a multidisciplinary team responsible for the exercise of the above functions. You are also required to have excellent oral, written and presentation skills. Furthermore, experience in relation to financial stability/research publications will be considered as an asset.
The role calls for an academic qualification in finance, economics or other relevant studies at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level as well as 8 years experience in a related area.
