A well established banking institution is seeking to employ an Operational Risk Manager who will be reporting to the Chief Risk Officer and the Head of Operational & IT Risk. The selected candidate will work intensively with colleagues from both the first and the second line of defence, across all sites.

Job duties include:

  • Leading the Operational Risk Management function of the Bank, and working in conjunction with the Group Risk function accordingly
  • Managing the Operational Risk framework of the Bank, including Key Risk Indicators, risk monitoring and control testing
  • Overseeing all Operational and IT risks including management information, key risks and trends, and reporting to the Chief Risk Officer and regulatory bodies as necessary
  • Producing scheduled and ad hoc risk reports for specific stakeholders
  • Supporting in the yearly Internal Control Report process (based on RCSAs, facilitated and challenged by Operational Risk)
  • Working closely with the Data Protection Officer on GDPR related matters
  • Managing all Operational Risk related policies and ensuring that standards meet regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring that Operational Risk controls are in place and are available to all interested parties with updates appropriately controlled and audited
  • Overseeing business continuity planning across the Bank
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of major incident recovery and undertaking periodical testing
  • Being involved in operational risk awareness programmes by proactively communicating emerging risks, policies and frameworks, including training

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • A university degree in a finance-related or mathematical subject
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a banking or financial services environment
  • Experience in risk management, audit or finance would be preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
