The Banking Supervision Function at the MFSA is entrusted with the onsite and ongoing surveillance of licensed banks and non-bank financial institutions (FIs) following the issue of their licence from the Authorisation Unit. The Function also carries out supervision of Significant Credit Institutions (SIs) together with the European Central Bank through the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The Banking Supervision Team is made up of officials with a banking background, but also legal, accounting and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.

The Role

As a Junior Assistant within the Banking Supervision Function you will be carrying out the following duties:

  • Assisting in banking related projects;

  • Conducting research and analyses in relation to the Function’s projects;

  • Compiling and drafting documents under the guidance of the team;

  • Undertaking any other tasks as delegated by the Head and management team of the Function, depending on the Authority’s exigencies.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are in the process of completing an undergraduate degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Law, Accountancy or in any other qualification related to financial services.

You will be expected to have the ability to manage competing priorities and a challenging workload and a basic knowledge of the financial services framework in Malta.

You are also expected to be a confident individual who is flexible, dynamic, and have a critical and analytical mind-set.

Excellent written and spoken communication as well as presentation skills are a must.
