Head of Compliance & DPO

 A leading fund management company is seeking to employ a motivated and experienced individual to join their team in Malta as the new Compliance Officer, taking over the pre-approved function of Head of Compliance.

Job duties include:

  • Implement, organise, coordinate and structure the Company’s Compliance related controls in accordance with local Regulations and internal standards
  • Control of all measures to reduce compliance risks
  • Draft and maintain the Compliance Monitoring Plan and carry out the relevant oversight 
  • Drafting and review of in-house Compliance procedures
  • Proactively identify, analyse and report compliance risks
  • Perform impact assessments of ongoing regulatory requirements
  • Assess the regulatory implications of new product launches and service extensions
  • Act as the first point of contact for the regulator, maintaining an open and positive working relationship and ensure high quality in any correspondence
  • Preparation and presentation of periodic Compliance reports to the Board
  • Assume the role as DPO for the Company
  • Preparation, Coordination and implementation of prescribed training events for employees on the subject of AML, Fraud Prevention, data protection and Compliance topics
  • Performance of all data protection requirements and related tasks for the Company
  • Reporting to Management and to the employees about latest updates in regards to Data Protection related regulations
  • Contact person for the office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner and ensuring the relevant reporting to the IDPC.
  • Creation and continuous monitoring and updating of the data processing register
Skills and Qualifications required: 
  • University degree in Law, Economics or comparable professional education in relevant fields
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience within a similar senior role, within Fund Services, investments funds and/or management companies
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are already approved by the MFSA
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations in a confidential and professional manner
  • Excellent knowledge of the Maltese regulatory framework
