Well established international firm offering innovative banking solutions is seeking to employ a Compliance Officer& MLRO for its Malta Office.

Job duties include:
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures  to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the compliance and MLRO function, including oversight of implementation and adherence to the Compliance Manual of the Company and/or Group
  • Provision of advice and assistance to the Company on compliance and anti-money laundering matters
  • Develops a regular monitoring procedures and practices to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal systems of control and measures implemented by the Company
  • Develops and updates a regulatory and statutory reporting program and liaises with departments within the Company and/or Group and third party service providers to ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting
  • Maintains compliance registers and the Compliance Monitoring Programme as required by statutory and regulatory requirements 
  • Collaborates and liaises with internal departments, regulators, authorities and external service providers to resolve legal and compliance issues
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
  • Performs and/or supports client onboarding and periodic due diligence procedures
  • Enforces the anti-money laundering (AML) standards and assesses unusual or suspicious transactions
Skills and Qualifications required:
  • Strong experience in the AML and Compliance field, , ideally within the depositary sector (minimum 3 years)
  • Previously authorized by MFSA to act as Compliance Officer and/or MLRO
  • Educated to a Bachelor’s degree, Masters level education will be considered an asset
  • Good knowledge of Maltese and EU funds structures (PIF, AIF, UCITS, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of funds functioning and interactions between stakeholders in the fund industry
  • Good understanding of the AIFMD and UCITS requirements, especially related to depositary activities in relation to liquid and illiquid assets
  • Ability to understand financial products including private equity and real estate
  • Thorough knowledge of Maltese investment services legislation and regulation
  • Rigour, precision, analytical and problem resolving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proactive and able to take initiatives
  • Able to work independently and strong team player
  • Fluent in English
