5 DAYS TO GO TO THE INTERNATIONAL TAX CONFERENCE

Castille Institute, a well-established leader within the financial services and tech education sector is organising its Annual International Tax Conference on the 10th November 2017.
The International Tax Conference will focus on a number of recent initiatives of relevance for practitioners in this field. A newly agreed on EU directive (ATAD II) aims at preventing tax avoidance through hybrid mismatches, over and beyond the existing rules (ATAD I). Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) will force large multinationals to provide an annual report that breaks down key elements of their financial statements by jurisdiction and will provide local tax authorities visibility of revenues, income and taxes. Under a proposal by the EU Commission, cross-border tax planning schemes bearing certain characteristics which can result in losses for governments might have to be automatically reported by intermediaries (consulting firms, banks, lawyers, tax advisors, accountants, etc.) to the tax authorities before they are used. Finally, the European Court of Justice continues to shape European VAT law.
At this year’s International Tax Conference one will have the opportunity to listen to a number of speakers including:
Opening Speech by Aldo Farrugia, Director General (Legal & International), Office of the Commissioner for Revenue.
Nicky Gouder (Tax Partner ARQ Group), Osarugue Obayuwana (Tax Advisor KPMG), Niklas Schmidt (Partner Wolf Theiss) and Chris Borg (Principal Indirect Tax Deloitte).
There will also be a Panel Discussion moderated by Nicky Gouder, including Niklas Schmidt (Partner Wolf Theiss), Luana Scicluna (Tax Manager ARQ Group), Mark Galea Salomone (Associate Camilleri Preziosi) and Rachel Galea (Manager International Tax Deloitte).
